New scholarship available
2011 Scholarship for the Not-for Profit Sector .
In conjunction with the Australian Scholarships Foundation and the Origin Foundation, CEW has awarded a national scholarship for a woman involved in the Not-for-Profit sector.
Congratulations to Jo Brennan, of Habitat for Humanity who is the recipient of this award and will be attending the Australian Institute of Company Directors – Company Directors course.
The Not-for-Profit sector contributes significantly to the well being of our community. It is an important part of the economy, similar in size to the government administration and defence sector, and it is growing rapidly. However, the Not-for-Profit sector has a limited capacity for investing in the leadership development of the people working within it.
To assist with this and in recognition of the key role women play in the sector, CEW and the Australian Scholarships Foundation (with the help of the Origin Foundation) have jointly offered a scholarship to participate in the Company Directors Course.
The Australian Institute of Company Directors is the leader in director education in Australia. The Company Directors Course provides knowledge to understand the roles, and the compliance, governance, ethical and performance issues, for a board. Attendees include directors, CEOs, and senior managers from Not-for-Profit organisations, private companies, public companies, public sector and local government. The Company Directors Course delivers understanding and tools, particularly in the area of governance, to improve the performance of organisations. Participants value the knowledge gained of the board and the director’s role, and building an expanded network, especially through the course which is highly engaging with participants contributing to the learning.
